Dear Shakuhachi-friends,
I am pleased to announce the establishment of my YouTube channel,
https://www.youtube.com/@Jim_Franklin_Shakuhachi_Modern/videos
or
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkt9aqmHQIPFD81kdH8dHFA
As the name implies, this is _not_ a channel for traditional shakuhachi music. Rather, it focusses on my compositions for shakuhachi, with emphasis on the combination of shakuhachi and live electronics. So far, I have uploaded some older, little-known pieces of mine, and one new piece ('Spectral Palace D'). My intention is to upload a new piece every few weeks. These new pieces are works-in-progress; I will continue refining and developing them, and they will ultimately become part of a new large-scale composition, a companion to my CD 'Songs from the Lake' (NEOS Music 12029, released in 2021).
The artwork for 'Spectral Palace D' (and the forthcoming pieces) was (and will be) painted by the Japanese artist, Perohiroka.
If you are interested in this contemporary direction, please take a look at this channel. And please consider subscribing to it.
Thank you for listening!
Cheers,
Jim Franklin
